Terms of Use
These terms explain what Newshook does, what we ask of you, and how billing works. Plain language on purpose — if something here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.
Last updated: 1 August 2026
1. Who we are and what you are agreeing to
Newshook (“Newshook”, “we”, “us”) operates the website at www.newshook.io and the product available through it. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You can reach us at any time at support@newshook.io. That address is the right place for questions, removal requests, billing issues and anything else covered below.
2. What Newshook is: a search and discovery service
Newshook’s core service is discovery — finding media opportunities across many platforms and putting them in one searchable feed. We monitor publicly available sources (email digests such as HARO and Source of Sources, platforms such as Featured, Qwoted, SourceBottle and MentionMatch, social posts on X/Twitter, BlueSky, LinkedIn and Reddit, Substack newsletters, and reader callouts published inside articles), remove duplicates, and use AI to score how well each opportunity matches your profile.
We do not claim journalists’ requests as our own — with the single exception of requests journalists post on Newshook themselves. A request that originated on another platform belongs to the journalist who wrote it and, where applicable, the platform that published it. What we add there is discovery, deduplication and matching — not authorship. Requests submitted directly to us through our For Journalists page are native to Newshook: there is no other platform behind them and no external link to point you to, so we present them as our own — while the journalist keeps every right to the request itself (see section 4). Concretely:
- Every aggregated request in Newshook carries a link back to its original source, and we always point you there to read it in full and respond. Requests posted directly on Newshook are labelled Newshook Exclusive and are read and answered here, because here is where they were published.
- We show the source platform for each request. Where a request appeared on several platforms, we list each one rather than presenting it as a Newshook exclusive.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as an agent of any of the platforms we monitor. Their names are used only to identify where a request came from.
- When you respond to a request, you are pitching the journalist directly — through the original platform or the contact channel the journalist chose to publish. Newshook does not sit between you and the journalist and does not represent you to them.
- If a platform or journalist asks us to stop surfacing their requests, we will honour that. Write to support@newshook.io.
3. Journalist contact details
We do not publish a journalist’s email address unless that address is already public. An address appears in Newshook only when one of the following is true:
- the journalist or the source platform published it as the way to respond — for example a reply address in a public HARO-style digest, a contact address in a public post, a callout inside a published article, or an address on the journalist’s own public profile or website; or
- the journalist gave it to us directly by posting a request on Newshook (see section 4).
We do not guess, reconstruct or buy email addresses, and we do not attempt to uncover private inboxes. If a request has no publicly available contact address, we show the link to the original post and you respond there.
Journalists can ask us to remove or hide their details at any time by emailing support@newshook.io — we act on those requests without asking for a reason.
Contact details in Newshook are for responding to the specific request they belong to. You may not export them into a media list, add them to a mailing list, resell them, or use them for unrelated outreach.
4. Requests posted by journalists on Newshook
Journalists can post a request directly on Newshook via our For Journalists page. Those submissions are confirmed by email (double opt-in) and reviewed by us before publication. A journalist who posts a request:
- grants us permission to show that request, and the contact details they chose to include, to matched Newshook users for as long as the request is live;
- can unpublish it at any time using the link in their confirmation email, or by emailing us;
- keeps all rights to the request itself — publishing it on Newshook transfers nothing to us.
Posting a request as a journalist is free. We do not sell placement or ranking inside the feed.
5. Your account
You need an account to use Newshook. Keep your login credentials to yourself, give us accurate information, and keep your profile up to date — matching quality depends directly on it.
An account is for one person. The Agency plan includes seats for up to 3 team members, with additional seats available; each member signs in with their own account and gets their own matched feed. Sharing one login across several people is not allowed.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to use Newshook.
6. Acceptable use
While using Newshook, you agree not to:
- scrape, bulk-export, mirror or resell the request feed, the journalist database, or any other part of the service — the exports we provide are for your own records;
- pitch journalists in bulk with irrelevant or automated content, or misrepresent your expertise, credentials, employer or identity in a pitch;
- ignore the rules of the platform a request came from, or a journalist’s stated deadline or terms;
- use the service to harass a journalist, or to contact one who has asked not to be contacted;
- probe, overload or interfere with the service or its infrastructure, or try to access data belonging to other users.
Getting quoted depends on the quality and relevance of what you send. Spraying pitches damages the journalists we all depend on, and we will suspend accounts that do it.
7. AI features
Newshook uses AI to score matches, draft pitches and give feedback. These outputs are suggestions, not facts. AI can be wrong, can miss context, and can produce claims that do not apply to you.
You are responsible for everything you send to a journalist. Read and edit every draft before it goes out, and check that any statistic, credential or quotation in it is true. Match scores are our estimate of fit — not a promise of relevance, and not a promise of coverage.
8. Subscriptions, trials and billing
- Plans. Expert is $59/month. Agency is $89/month and includes up to 3 team members, with additional seats at $39/month each. Current details are on the pricing page.
- Free trial. New accounts get a free trial of 3 business days (weekends are not counted). No card is required. The trial clock starts when you finish onboarding, so that you get the full period with a working profile and a live feed.
- Payments. Subscriptions are handled by LemonSqueezy, which acts as the merchant of record for our sales. Their checkout collects your payment details and any tax due; card details never reach Newshook’s systems (see our Privacy Policy).
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that LemonSqueezy is required to add.
- Cancellation. You can cancel any time from Settings. Cancelling stops future charges and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Changing plans. Upgrades and downgrades take effect through LemonSqueezy and are prorated against the remaining billing period.
9. Refunds
We would rather refund you than keep money for a month you did not use. Two cases we handle as a matter of course:
- You were charged for a month you did not use. We track account activity, so we can see this. If you were billed for a period in which you did not meaningfully use the platform, email support@newshook.io and we will refund that most recent month.
- You picked the wrong plan. If you subscribed to Expert or Agency by mistake, tell us and we will move you to the right plan and refund or credit the difference.
Beyond those two cases, refunds are at our discretion — write to us and we will look at your situation. Refunds are issued through LemonSqueezy to the original payment method, and a refund ends the subscription and access for the refunded period.
10. What we promise, and what is outside our control
What we commit to is the work we control: monitoring 12+ sources around the clock, collapsing duplicates, scoring every request against your profile, and getting the relevant ones in front of you while the deadline is still open. That is the job we are paid for, and if we drop it, section 9 says how we put it right.
What no one can promise is the editorial decision at the other end. Whether a journalist replies, quotes you or publishes you is theirs to make, so nothing here or on our marketing pages is a guarantee of coverage or of a specific result.
We also work on top of sources we do not own. Feeds get restructured, platforms rate-limit us, digests arrive late, journalists close requests early. We chase those breakages continuously — it is most of what we do — but the service is provided “as is”: we cannot warrant that every relevant request will be found, that details such as deadlines and outlets are always accurate, or that the service will never be interrupted. When something on our side goes wrong, tell us — we would rather fix it, or refund it, than argue about it.
11. Intellectual property
The Newshook software, interface, matching system, and our own compilation and enrichment of the aggregated feed are ours. Requests and articles from third parties remain the property of their authors and platforms.
Your profile, your pitches and anything else you write stay yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store that content, process it (including through the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy) in order to generate matches and drafts, and show it back to you. We do not publish it, sell it or share it with other users. See Privacy Policy for the details.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Newshook at any time; cancel your subscription in Settings and email us if you also want your account and data deleted.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms — in particular the acceptable-use rules in section 6 — or that puts journalists, other users or the service at risk. Where the situation allows it, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. If we close a paid account for a reason other than a breach, we refund the unused part of the current period.
13. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Newshook is not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including lost business, lost coverage, lost profit or reputational harm — arising from your use of the service, from the content of a third-party request, or from a journalist’s response or lack of one. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. For changes that materially affect you — pricing, refunds, or how we handle your data — we will notify account holders by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Newshook after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Contact
Questions, removal requests, billing problems, or anything else: support@newshook.io. We read every message.
